Parenting through Coronavirus

On the latest episode (HERE) of Dharma Time, The Dharma Guy & The Dope Doctor talk about our parenting through the Coronavirus COVID-19.

Parenting is always difficult, but the Coronavirus brings with it a very unique challenge for many of us. It’s important that we use a skillful approach during this extraordinary time to help us better navigate our days and maintain our inner peace.

It’s important for our own peace as well as that of our loved ones that we maintain some sense of normalcy and that is typically achieved through structure. Chaos leads to more chaos. Try to refrain from just allowing a free for all within the house where nobody knows what’s expected of them or when. Structure tends to keep people calmer as they knows what’s next.

Also, keep in mind that it’s ok to not “win” this lock down. Meaning, its ok if you’re not the most productive or you’re not as motivated as you’d like. There really is no right or wrong here,  were all just doing the best we can. Allow yourself and your loved ones to slack off or handle this situation differently. Adjust your expectations of you and those around you.

Lastly, make room for balance. Don’t get so caught up with the responsibilities and the structure that you neglect good old fashioned fun. We all need a break at times and to take our minds off of the lock down. Allow this and you’ll be much better off.
