Attitude of Gratitude

On the latest episode (HERE) of Dharma Time, The Dharma Guy & The Dope Doctor talk about living a life with an attitude of gratitude.

It’s way too easy to latch onto the things in life that we perceive to be negative or don’t match up to our expectations. Having said that, we need to focus on the things in life that are going our way more than just once a year.

Sadly, it seems that we get too comfortable ignoring or taking for granted the “positive” things throughout the year then pretending to give thanks during November. I say pretend because typically we give thanks for the large things while simultaneously complaining about the rest of life. Being grateful for the people in your life, waking up, having a roof over your head and food in your belly are all worth paying attention to. Daily someone is lost, someone is given a terminal diagnosis, evicted etc. any day that doesn’t happen to you its worth your gratitude.

Gratitude is great for not only ourselves, but those around us. Gratitude isn’t ignoring the issues in life that bring you pain, rather it’s choosing to focus on the things that bring you joy. It should be done daily and consistently.
